it's out

Last Thursday, I was admitted back to the hospital. It was not planned.  It was determined that I had "failed conservative management" of my perfed appy and now I needed to have it immediately surgically removed.  Which is, before this whole thing started, what I thought people just did right off from the first place.  I was put on the emergency OR schedule after 48 hours of additional IV antibiotics and went into surgery Saturday afternoon.

The surgery went well.  They were able to do it laproscopically (i.e. with a camera and little pincer arms through the skin) as opposed to via and open incision, which would have meant more problems with pain, scarring, and recovery time, so that's good.  I stayed in the hospital for a few days after that and was deemed well enough to go home this morning.  I don't know if I'm exactly well, so to speak, but I'm glad to be home.  Being in the hospital is like torture.

I can't believe that I've had appendicitis for a month.  What is this, some third world country?  I thought appendicitis was easy, something that you just fix right off and recover from in a few days. A month is a long time to feel sick.

If anyone's in charge of this kind if thing, let them know that I'm ready to get better now.
