knit master

Since last we spoke, I have knitted a lovely rolled-edge multi-colored scarf, and am well on my way to completing a stripey scarf in a color scheme I can only describe as "Shades of Strawberry Shortcake."  (Various pinks and whites, you know.)

The project that I have actually finished, the roll-edge scarf, is so very gorgeous I could just plotz.  (With all due modesty.)  The only problem is the roll-edge.  I was under the mistaken impression from my sister that you could actually iron out the rolling, but I think it's just a property intrinsic to the stich I used.  My Strawberry Shortcake Fantasy scarf, however, is in a different stitch (garter stitch as opposed to stockinette, if you must know), so it's lying nice and flat like a good scarf should.

Next on the list--matching hats!  I got the circular needle and everything!  Maybe I will quit my day job of being a total slacker fourth-year med student and start my own knitwear store.  OK, a scarf store, since as of yet, I can't knit anything else.

Tensions are running a little high in the house since Joe's residency match results are due back in a matter of two weeks.  I think he's going to match at his first choice, but he's in the throes of self-doubt and worry.  He doesn't want to talk about it (he says), but he keeps bringing it up, weighing and re-weighing the different programs, sizing up other candidates, and stressing himself out.  I just tell him to shut the fuck up, bitch.  (Ha!   Kidding!  I just tell him that he's going to do very, very well in the match, and that when the results come back, he will realize again that I am always right.  Do not doubt the powers that be.)

I'm sure that I'll be a wreck the weeks before my match too (I think I find out mid-March or something), but since I'm not in that place yet, I can act all calm and smug.
