girly girls

I met up with Sara and Jason last night down on the Lower East Side.  They just got engaged too, so we spent quite a bit of time talking about girly wedding things.  However, more importantly, we talked about how hard it is to be a non-girly girl suddenly forced to talk about such girly things.

MICHELLE
It's like, you're excited and everything, because, you know, you're getting married, but still, you don't want to be all squealing chicky about it.

SARA
Right.  I'm still not quite sure how to
deal with that part of it.  Like part of you
wants to say, "It's not a big deal," and
downplay it...but it actually is a big deal.

MICHELLE
I just don't want to be boring, so I'm playing it kind of blasé.  You're getting married?  That's so exciting!  Yeah, it's cool.  But...you're getting married!  Woo!  Yeah.  No big deal.  Is that your ring?  It's gorgeous!  Ooh!  Aah!  Yeah, it's all right.  I mean, you know, it's sparkly and such.

SARA
And then people think you're weird because
you're not all revved up about things.

MICHELLE
Well, I just don't want to be such a Girl.

SARA
I know.  So then it's like you don't know
quite how to approach the subject.

MICHELLE
Which leads to oscillating between the two.
Yeah, I'm getting married.  Whatever, no big shake.  I mean...woo...WOO!  PRETTY PRETTY FLOWERS!  Um...but yeah, it's not such a big deal.  You know...all that wedding stuff...I'm not really into all that anyway.  EXCEPT FOR THE FLOATY DRESS AND THE FLOWERS AND PRESENTS AND THERE WILL BE GLOWY CANDLES AND LANTERNS EVERYWHERE!  Ahem.

I tried the new Blue Pepsi yesterday.  It's supposed to be a berry-cola fusion, but frankly, I tasted no cola.  It just tasted like really artificial berry flavor.  Plus, it's just so...blue.  Why does it have to be blue?  It's no Vanilla Coke, is all I'm saying.
